Golden Milk recipe

My take on a golden milk recipe, which I find really useful when I have cramps, ovarian pain or migraines. It has helped me with pain relief from inflammation and is also warming and soothing.

Recipe for golden milk

Ingredients
1 x star anise
3 - 4 x cloves
1 piece of cinnamon bark
Pinch of chilli flakes
4 cardamom pods (crushed)
Fresh chopped turmeric (5mm / 0.5cm)
Fresh chopped ginger (5mm / 0.5cm)
A pinch of black pepper
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup of oat milk or milk alternative

Optional
Pinch of ground ginger
Pinch of ground turmeric
Maple syrup (vegan option) or honey

Method
Place the cardamom pods, star anise, cloves, cinnamon bark and chilli in a small saucepan over a low heat.

Wait until they are fragrant before adding the fresh turmeric and ginger for 30 seconds. Then pour in the oat milk and water. I also put in a little extra ground turmeric and ginger for added spice. Option to add pepper at this stage and whisk. Don’t let it boil.

After about 5-7 mins your golden milk should be yellowing from the turmeric. Take it off the heat and sieve the liquid into your favourite cup. You can add the honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.

Enjoy!
